After reaching Indira Gandhi terminal in Delhi, this feeling of giddiness lingered with me as I am never comfortable flying. I was excited as I was heading to IIT Roorkee for MBA admissions interview, and it was the first time i am attending a B school interview.
Roorkee is about 172 kms away from Delhi and is located in the state of Uttarakhand. Dehradun is the capital of utarakhand which is also called as the Land of GODs. Uttarakhand is famous for its temples esp. Badrinath, kedarnath and uttarkailash temples. The travel by bus from ISBT delhi to roorkee was a memorable one though it was pretty strenuous. The buses running in that route are in a sad state even worse than the worst of ksrtc buses that one could imagine. It took me some time to get used to the sudden shift in the climate (from 40 deg chennai to 14 degree roorkee). I was welcomed to Roorkee by an Old man who was a rickshaw man and he precisely judged my destination. He told me he will take me to IIT Roorkee in his rickshaw for 40 rs. I agreed and followed him. It was then that i realised that it was a cycle rickshaw and not an auto rickshaw. You won't find many autorickshaws in Roorkee. I felt bad sitting in the rickshaw as that old man was driving me to the campus. Honestly i felt a pang of guilt inside me for some unexplainable reason. IIT Roorkee, a lush green campus (and ofcourse huge by its size) had a welcome notice for the people coming in for the interviews. It has a legacy of over 160 years and it is the first technical university of Independent India , then known as Thomason College. Another interesting fact about ROORKEE is that, it is the city with highest density of Engineers in India. Overall the experience was a memorable one....
